It Still Burns

13 12 2010

It still burns. I still get a twinge when I see a black on black 325i like the one I used to own. I think about how we take things for granted. I didn’t really appreciate my car until it was gone.

Now, eight months later, my situation is the office joke. “Can you believe her car blew up in the parking lot?” Or my personal favorite, “her car went up in a blaze of glory!!”

I am disappointed. I feel like BMW should have done more to help me. As one of their consumers, they should have replaced my car because all the reports clearly proved that the fire was a manufacturer defect.

As much as I might admire the style of a shiny 5 series or 7 series, the first thing that comes to mind is that car is a death trap. I am not the first or the last to go through this situation.

BOCA RATON — A Boca Raton man has been displaced from his home after his car caught on fire, which then caught his garage on fire, according to firefighters.

The BMW in the garage of a home in the 6100 block of North Dixie Highway caught on fire around 9 a.m. and the flames spread from the car to the garage, according to a Boca Raton Fire-Rescue Department report. The owner, who was not identified, was home at the time but was not in the car and was not injured.

The home sustained about $200,000 worth of damage, and the car was severely burned before firefighters put out the blaze. The home was rendered uninhabitable.

The cause has not been determined, and the fire is being investigated by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Here are pictures of my 325i after Saturday’s Electrical Fire.

My car has that New Fire Smell!

Five more minutes and the windshield would have burned.

Glad we put out the fire in time…
